Rapido Exclusive BP Fireless Loco (OO) DCC-Ready £139.95 (PRE-ORDER: £30 Deposit)

Rapido Trains UK are to produce the Andrew Barclay 0-4-0 ‘Caledonia’ Fireless locomotive and we are offering an exclusive model for World of Railways / BRM / RMweb in the attractive and useful BP livery carried by works number 2238, delivered in February 1948 to Distillers Co Ltd. for their British Resin Products plant in Barry, South Wales. BP acquired Distillers in 1967 with the livery of the locomotive changing to that which we see in Rapido’s renders of our forthcoming model with BP’s well-known shield logo used from 1961-1989.

The locomotive is therefore liveried for the period from 1967 to its withdrawal when the plant closed in 1986.  The fireless locomotive is seen performing here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jj1l_9oAEiU

We have chosen a livery which would be appropriate for modellers to use in private sidings; maybe an oil terminal or chemical plant? Another consideration in choosing this livery would be the easy removal of the BP logo giving an ideal base to work from on for your own colour scheme.

The model features a diecast and injected moulded construction evident from the EP samples .

Our model includes the angled reservoir supports and early-style buffer guides with a reducing valve.

Due to size constraints the model will have an E24 decoder socket which is an emerging standard for small models.

The price is £139.95 including VAT plus postage for a boxed loco. The production run is strictly limited to 100 locos. Delivery is expected mid 2025 and orders can be placed with a £30.00 deposit now to ensure you have a loco reserved for you.
